Three Gingers

pastel painting of a red headed man and two ginger spotted chihuahuas

Three Gingers, 6×9″ pastel on board, $110.

I saw this young man with his two sweet dogs walking out in front of my shop and asked him if I could have a picture. He said they were two rescues. Cute pups. One of them needs a hernia operation and he was visiting the pawn shop nearby, presumably to come up with the money for her? I couldn’t resist their faces and they seem so calm and happy with him. I called it Three Gingers because the little dogs each have ginger colored patches that matched their master’s hair.

Chester

Chester is my friend Sally’s dog. He’s gone now, but of course, he was the best dog ever. I enjoyed painting him, partly because I got to try out a new kind of pastel paper and partly because he’s a dog! I love dogs.

Thank you, Sally, for sending me Chester’s beautiful face to paint!

No progress pics today because I was on the road while working on Chester’s portrait.

This is my 30 Friends in 30 Days series. Each day I take a friend’s selfie and make a pastel painting from it. Then I post it to ebay at auction for 7 days. Follow my progress as I learn to paint pastel portraits with a little help from my friends.
