Now what?

You may be the type of person who stores artwork in a flat file and feels good about that. It certainly eliminates the problem of too many paintings and not enough wall space!

What I like to do with my paintings is frame them and hang them on the wall. Framing keeps the pastel painting safe from accidental smudging and from moisture in the air. Properly framed, your pastel painting will last for generations! If that’s what you like to do, too, read on.

Sometimes I like to use a local framer to help me select just the right framing package for my work. Locally, that’s Rob at Timeless Framing. He is an expert at framing my pastel paintings. For example, he had the perfect skull and roses frames for my skellies and used a wonderful combination mat package that highlighted the colors in the work. I love his stuff.

If you’re using a local framer, choose someone with experience in pastel paintings, like Rob.

Sometimes I go to www.webpictureframes.com. This is a great website because I can see exactly what my framed painting will look like before I buy.

For example, with this painting, Vermilion Point, I went to webpictureframes.com, then selected a black wooden frame. From there, I used the buttons underneath the frame image to upload an picture of my painting, select a mat package, order museum grade acrylic, hanging hardware, the works! The whole package arrived in 2 weeks.

I like webpictureframes.com because they’re a small shop that does good work and they’re super about answering my questions by phone or email.

Once you have your artwork ready to hang, then be sure to place it somewhere cool and dry, that’s out of direct sunlight. (So the bathroom is out!) Then pat yourself on the back for taking care of your artwork and enjoy!
