Bona Lisa

pastel painting of the Mona Lisa with a skeleton

Bona Lisa, 12×16″ pastel on paper. $1,200.

Here she is! My favorite skelly painting so far. I think her smile might be just a tad wider than the original but heck, she has no lips! What can she do but grin!

This is, of course, a parody of Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece, the Mona Lisa. I have never seen it in person, but I plan to do so at my earliest opportunity. Did you hear that the actual bones of Mona Lisa have only recently been discovered? Me, neither!

I had a great time with this painting. As with all my Old (Dead) Masters paintings, it took a bit longer to do, mainly because I wanted it to resemble the original as much as possible. Pastels make the image so vibrant and lively! I love that.

I’m very happy with how she turned out, and I think you’ll love her, too.
