Pastel painting of a skeleton posing in a formal gown

Madame X-Ray

12×6″ pastel on sanded UArt paper

In this painting, a skeleton poses in a long, formal gown, looking off to the right. It’s a skeletal take on John Singer Sargent’s famous Madame X painting and is part of my skelly series, Old (Dead) Masters, in which I re-work some of my favorite historical paintings with calcified, bone-ified results! I love her dress and how her carpal bones hold tight to her skirt! Such drama!
